Jehovah Shammah - The Lord is There

Focus scriptures: Ezekiel 48:30-35 Rev 21:1-3

The focus Scriptures show that there will be a new relationship between the Lord and his people.

God’s plan is established and His word Shall never be returned void.  The illustration of the recreation in Genesis paints a beautiful picture of a perfect paradise.  Mankind, created in the image of God, placed in an environment where every need was met and the Lord could come and commune with His beloved creation.  A creation he adored and longed to dwell and be close with.  We know this for God walked in the garden in the cool of the day.  And God called to Adam and said’ “Where are you” This is after they had disobeyed and eaten from the only thing in the entire garden that God instructed them to stay away from.  This disobedience brought separation from God’s presence and His intended purpose for mankind.  Which is ‘Koinonia’ to dwell in loving fellowship with Him, reflect His image, and exercise wise stewardship over creation, while filling the earth with His glory.

The plan and purpose of salvation have always been to bring us back into alignment.  Ultimately Jesus makes a way for restoration through reconciliation on the cross, and we can boldly proclaim Jehovah Shammah the Lord is there.  Yes, the Lord is in ‘that place.’ Wherever you may find yourself.

In the days of old, after sin entered and created separation God would only reveal His presence to specific individuals or his presence rested in the Ark of Covenant positioned within the ‘Holy of Holies’, the inner most chamber of the tabernacle then the temple built by Solomon.  The Holy of Holies was an inner most sacred place sectioned by a veil (Exodus 26:33–34).  Only the high priest could enter on an annual basis to atone for the sins of God’s people.o

But glory be to God, Christ came as the High Priest, drenched in the blood of innocence He died and bore our sins and He entered the Holy of Holies once and for all and the veil was torn (Matthew 27:50–51) Through the redemptive blood of Jesus we now have access to bring our petitions before the Lord.  There is no intermediary, apart from the Holy Spirit who intercedes when we cannot express our grief or gratitude.  Jehovah Shammah The Lord is There.  Yes, the Lord is in that place, wherever you may find yourself you can call upon Him for His Spirit dwells in believers (1 Corinthians 6:19) Through Christ, the way has been made available for us to enter into the fullness of fellowship with the Father.

Therefore, we can stand upon the truth that we have been “raised up together, and made to sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus” (Ephesians 2:6). This is the reality of those who belong to Christ: we are no longer separated from God’s presence but are invited to live from a place of spiritual union with Him through the Holy Spirit.  God no longer dwells only in a place; He dwells within us, His people.

We can boldly declare Jehovah Shammah The Lord is there, God is present The same God who walked in the garden, The same God who revealed His glory in the Holy of Holies, the same God who came to us through Jesus Christ, now makes His dwelling place within us through His Spirit.

Christ said 'If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.'"

And this promise finds its ultimate fulfilment in Revelation, where John declares:

“Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God.” (Revelation 21:3)
