Jesus is our cornerstone Master Builder: DIY Nation

In 2021 the UK spent over £21 billion pounds on 'do it yourself projects' on their homes, due to the high costs in materials and tradesmen labour. However, with the rise in social media sharing DIY videos of how to complete their own home renovations, people became confident that they could achieve the same outcomes themselves, through decorative updates, essential repairs and long-term value-adding renovations!

The human inner desire for constructing value and sustainable buildings is ancient and God given, but sadly, too often we either fail to recognise or use the building creativity in us, or where we do recognise it, we think it’s based on our own abilities, leaving God out of the picture and seek to take the glory for ourselves.

In Genesis 11. God's people grew tired and fearful of moving around and decided to build a Tower that would reach the heavens all this was done without God's approval. They had the unity of each other and thought this was enough. This was not the plan of God and he cause them to speak in different languages so that they could not communicate with each other.

Jesus is the Master builder; He knows what is best for us all. But the world wants to DIY- do it themselves and in doing so, they are destroying each other, building greed, living without the 10 commandments and creating futures for themselves without consulting God. The world thinks they can build worldwide peace love & unity without him. This is not achievable without the Master builder Jesus Christ.

This weekend we attended and participated in our church annual conference, where the topic was: Temple Builders.

The Bible reminds us “that the harvest is plenteous but the labours are few”. Which is an acknowledgement that now is the time to assembleand unify ourselves, for the great work, to which God is calling us all as temple builders. God not only called us to labour He has also equipped us with the special skills to complete our unique task, so we are not cowboy’s builders, but builders operating under the authority, skilful oversite, perfectly drafted plan of the Master Builder, Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 4:11-12, Says; “He has appointed some with grace to be apostles, and some with grace to be prophets, and some with grace to be evangelists, and some with grace to be pastors, and some with grace to be teachers”.

One of our Pastor’s put it this way when he said, ‘we are all builders/tradesmen and women’. Some of us are bricklayers, some plasterers, some joiners, some plumbers. Others interior designers, decorators, carpet/tiles fitters and the list goes on. However, whatever our speciality none of us are more important that the other. Yes, there may be specific times when our individual skills and labour are required during the process of putting the building together. But all are required and must be allowed to operate/work at their given time. And that time is now.

So let us all take on board the powerful messages we heard over the weekend, from our Bishop and fellow preachers, as I firmly believe they are directly from the mouth of God. Let us all roll our sleeves up not just ready for action, but to take action in the building of God’s temple for such a time as this. May God bless and direct us as we labour together.

God is near. One love Sis Jay # don'tstopbelievinginGod
