You’re Going to Get Through This

Maria sat in her car long after turning off the engine. The doctor’s words still echoed in her mind. The bills stacked on her kitchen counter weren’t going anywhere. Her job felt uncertain. And the prayer she had whispered for weeks seemed to hang in silence. Maria gripped the steering wheel and thought, I don’t know if I can handle this!

Relate? How many times have you felt like Maria? How many times have you had a moment just like that? Sitting on the edge of your bed at night. Staring at a screen with news you didn’t expect. Holding back tears so your children won’t see. Wondering how you’re supposed to move forward when your strength feels gone. How many times? Maybe you’re feeling like Maria right now.

Marie knew that, it’s in moments like these that God’s Word breaks through the noise: “So we may boldly say: The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me? Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”

“Be strong and courageous… Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Maria eventually wiped her eyes and whispered, “Lord, help me.” Maria remembered other seasons and times she thought she would never make it. Yet here she was. Still standing. Still breathing. Still held by grace. Maria didn’t suddenly feel brave the next morning. She still felt the weight. But she chose to take the next step and make the phone call, schedule the appointment, show up for work, and open her Bible.

Those simple words and that simple prayer is so powerful. “Lord, help me!” The word of God doesn’t say the Lord might help you, it says the Lord is my helper! Not he used to be, not if you deserve it, not if you’re strong enough….He is!

Maria began repeating that promise in her car, “You are with me. You are with me.” Circumstances didn’t change overnight. But something inside her did. Peace began to replace panic. Not because the storm had stopped, but because she remembered who was in the boat with her.

Your ability to get through this is not rooted in your own resilience. It’s rooted in the unchanging Christ, and because Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. The God who carried you before will carry you now. If He sustained you then, He will certainly sustain you now.

When God spoke to Joshua, he was stepping into leadership after Moses’ death. The responsibility was overwhelming. The future uncertain. The enemies real. But God told him three times “Be strong and courageous”. Courage wasn’t a feeling Joshua woke up with. It was obedience in the face of fear. The presence of fear does not mean the absence of God. It means you have a chance to trust Him more deeply. Joshua’s promise was simple, “The Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

You’re going to get through this! Believe it! You’re going to get through! Not because you feel fearless, but because God is faithful. His Presence Changes Everything! Wherever. Whenever. In hospital rooms. In job interviews.

In court dates. In quiet waiting seasons.

In this time of fasting, remember this. Life shifts. Diagnoses happen. Relationships strain. Finances fluctuate. Emotions rise and fall. But Jesus does not change. The same Jesus who calmed storms can calm yours. The same Jesus who conquered death can overcome your impossibility. The same Jesus who strengthened Joshua strengthens you. If He brought you to this, He will bring you through this.

If today feels heavy, take heart. Like Maria, you may still have questions. You may still feel uncertainty. But you are not abandoned. You are not forgotten. You are not fighting alone. Believe it! You’re going to get through this!

God Bless You
